We’re backstage at Sky One’s new talent search spectacular Must Be The Music and the wannabes are being interviewed by the production crew.
Host Fearne Cotton – renowned for her own brilliant backstage interviews at The Brits – explains: “The contestants are being asked about their stories, why they’re into music, how long they’ve been together as a band…”
And whether they’ve got any dead relatives.
Bold scheduling to launch in the same week as The X Factor. But if this upstart show really does offer a refreshing alternative to muzak lover Simon Cowell’s non-stop procession of Mariah Carey cover versions – then good luck to it.
Introducing crack judging team Dizzee Rascal, Jamie Cullum and Sharleen Spiteri, all of whom insist they are serious-minded musical purists. We’ll see.
“This isn’t Jerry Springer,” cries Dizzee. More’s the pity.
But over to sizzling scene-setter Must Be The Music: The Countdown… where Mr Rascal hilariously dismisses one total loser with the immortal words: “It was crap man… crap!”
If he carries on like that… this could be good.
