A SCOT is one of the early hopefuls in new TV talent show Must Be The Music.
The Sky 1 programme, presented by Fearne Cotton, has Dizzee Rascal, Sharleen Spiteri and Jamie Cullum as judges.
The first two auditions will be screened tomorrow and in the second episode, Emma Gillespie, 27, a busker from Glasgow who goes by the name Emma’s Imagination, is put through to the next round.
Now she has to wait to see if she’ll make the final 15 and get on to the live semi-final. If she does, she has the chance to win £100,000 and play a gig at Wembley.
Texas star Sharleen admits she can’t help but be a little biased when the Scots acts audition.
She said: “Obviously, when a Scottish act is coming through, of course, I’m a little biased because I think, ‘It’s going to be good.’ But they have to be good.”
Must Be The Music is different from The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent because there’s no recording contract. Hopefuls are encouraged to perform their own material instead of covers.
Acts have included rappers, bands, choirs, harpists and DJs.
Sharleen told Emma: “It’s a pleasure to have someone with your talent on the shortlist.”
Jamie said: “I don’t know why you look so nervous because someone with your talent should have no reason to be nervous.”
Dizzee added: “The song was beautiful and I love the way you sang it.”
