Sky1 is looking for the next Jamie Cullum, Hayley Westenra, Blur or Vanessa Mae
From Duran Duran to Kasabian, Madonna to Lily Allen, Miles Davis to Michael Bublé, Metallica to Blur, Jamie Cullum to Katherine Jenkins. Whether you’re an eight-year-old pianist, an eight-piece rock group or a brass band playing 80s pop, then Must Be The Music is the place to be. With a nation of authentic music lovers desperate to find a platform to launch their talent, Sky1 HD has announced its search for the best undiscovered musical talent in the UK.
Set to air in summer 2010, Must Be The Music is open to all musicians, no matter what type of music they play – be they solo artists, groups, vocalists or instrumentalists. The judges will travel the length and breadth of the country in the hunt for the best talent Britain has to offer.
Must Be The Music is a competition with a unique edge – not only will it include a huge spectrum of musical talent but also hand back control to the artists themselves, empowered by creative support, promotional advice and a cash fund of £100,000 to kick start their career – plus top billing at one of Britain’s biggest live music arenas.
And what fantastic judges they have lined up! Genre-busting and Mercury Music Prize winning Dizzee Rascal, best ever selling Jazz artist Jamie Cullum and ex-Texas front woman Sharleen Spiteri will determine the fate of the acts and the host for this huge event is… FEARNE COTTON! As is only fitting for officialfearnecotton.com we caught up with her to get her reaction at the launch of the show.
“So excited to be working on Must Be The Music. We have done our first two days of auditions and its been going really well. I’m blown away by the raw talent that we’ve seen so far and think the viewers will be too. People of all ages and musical inclination and background are on the show, there are no rules or limits as long as they are good and passionate. The judges are having a ball too! They are people who know the business inside out and understand the inner workings of it from a performers point of view which I think is really valuable to the show and integrity of finding someone who can perform at a massive venue and win that big money prize!! I hope you all enjoy the show on Sky 1 soon.”
Must Be The Music will launch this August on Sky1 HD and Sky1. Applicants are invited to come forward immediately so for further information go to www.sky.com/music >>
