Jamie and beatboxer Beardyman’s performance from Childish things available for download

One of the highlights of Oxford hospice fund-raiser Childish Things is to be turned into a download to raise further cash for the cause.

Each year Helen and Douglas House, based in East Oxford, stages one or more nights of comedy at Oxford’s New Theatre and for the first time this February a music night was held.

Two of the stars of the show, jazz singer Jamie Cullum and beatboxer Beardyman, took to the stage together for a completely unrehearsed and improvised performance.

Now a live recording of that performance is to be sold through the hospice website for £1 a download.

Dan Berglund Magnus Öström - Thread of Life

Next week, Jamie is joined by bassist Dan Berglund and drummer Magnus Öström, of Swedish jazz group the Esbjörn Svensson Trio (or e.s.t), at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios.

Jamie talks to the pair about their influence on jazz around the world, the tragedy of losing their pianist Esbjörn Svensson, and their new release of unheard e.s.t recordings, entitled 301.

Dan, Magnus and Jamie use the opportunity to perform together, with a very special session track together at the end of the show.

Loving the news that Jamie will be performing with Dan & Magnus next week! Great way to celebrate 2 years on Radio 2.
