Article: Must Be The Music hits Asia

Posted by michelle with No Comments

From Asia One News

BRITAIN’S newest reality-TV singing competition keeps things simple: Focus on musicians and their creations. And what a gem it is.

While other shows (think American Idol) involve covers, this series gives contestants free rein to showcase their own compositions and use any instrument (even a car exhaust pipe!).

You’ll be as impressed by the talent as judges Jamie Cullum, Sharleen Spiteri (former lead singer of Texas) and rap star Dizzee Rascal.

Watch out for the performances by soulful duo Pepper & Piano, an 11-year-old harpist and the alternative one-man band Daithi on a loop station.

The best thing is, you hear their stories, their lives, in the self-penned, heartfelt lyrics.

The series also launches the careers of its semi-finalists early, through Web sales of their songs, bypassing record labels.

Music lovers, rejoice.

The show will premiere on TV Ch 20 Mondays and Tuesdays, 9pm
