Jamie Cullum plays an hour of jazz music and features British jazz composer and pianist Zoe Rahman in session at the BBC Maida Vale studios.
As well as her personal music projects, Zoe Rahman works with the likes of Courtney Pine and Clark Tracey’s New Quintet, and on other projects within the UK jazz scene and abroad. Tonight, she performs tracks from her forthcoming album Kindred Spirits.

Next week Jamie chats to British-born violinist Nigel Kennedy whose work has expanded from the classical repertoire of his early career to encompass jazz, klezmer and other genres.
The two chat about Kennedy’s growing interest in jazz, where this began and how his classical roots impact his approach to this more free-form style.
The interview is underpinned by short musical examples from Nigel Kennedy on his violin.

Jamie’s first radio 2 show of the new year, and his first guest is Robert Glasper.
Robert is an American jazz pianist and producer and he will be performing a track from his album In My Element and his version of Teen Spirit, in session at the BBC Maida Vale Studios.

Jamie prepares for Christmas with a selection of alternative jazzy festive tunes and a BBC Maida Vale session from Camille. The French singer songwriter performs songs from her latest album Ilo Veyoux.
In a stripped back acoustic session with guitarist and percussionist Clément Ducol, Camille demonstrates her vocal virtuosity and ability to mix playful lyrics with complex tunes.
Jamie then ends the show performing a Christmas song on the piano given to Radio 2 by Elton John.
