Happy 2nd Anniversary to Jamie Cullum, Folded Wing & BBC Radio 2

My favourite bits from the last 12 months

Wow, time flies when you are having fun & enjoying yourself.

I can hardly believe that another year has gone by and here we are again celebrating another great year of Jamie’s radio show on BBC Radio 2.

Not only has the show got better and better over the last 12 months. But this past year has seen awards being won, the first ever live guest and the show branching out into other countries.

From the 28th September 2011 Jamie’s show went global, being aired on Jazz FM91 every Saturday at 11am in Canada.

And from the October 2011 TSF Jazz in France every Sunday at 11am.

In June 2011 Folded Wing & Jamie won 2 Bronze awards at New York Festivals Radio Awards, details of this can be read here.

Jamie has also recently been nomination for Jazz Broadcaster of the Year at the 2012 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. Further details can be found here.

Over these past 2 years Jamie has learnt the ropes and now when time permits his shows are live which includes him working all the controls himself.

Jamie has had some pretty amazing guests over the last 12 months, and some of my favourites were his first ever live guest Eliza Doolittle (with that amazing duet, “Baby It’s Cold Outside“) on 29th November 2011. And of course the legendary Sir Paul McCartney interview on the 7th February.

Folded Wing, the fantastic producers of Jamie’s show started their own WordPress Blog. Which has lead the way to some great photos and insights into the workings of the show.

In September 2011 with thanks to Folded Wing, we were able to gain some great insight into what goes on behind the scenes at such a great show.

And in February the BBC College of Production treated us with this

Following Jamie’s success on Radio 2 he attended the Radio Festival 2011 last November.

And of course we saw Jamie presenting at his BBC Radio 2 studio recently for the Sonny Rollins rescued programme that was aired on BBC 4 on 17th February.

There have been so many great moments & guests over the past 12 months that it is impossible to write about them all. So I hope you have enjoyed my personal recap. And if you haven’t yet been tuning in to Jamie’s show, what are you waiting for. See you every Tuesday night at 7pm!

Thank you all for reading, I shall leave you all with this, another of my favourite moments.
