Metro Picks BBC Proms 2010 and Must Be The Music as their TV picks

Pick Of The Day BBC Proms 2010, BBC4, 7.30pm

At last night’s Late Night Prom, pint-sized jazz/pop poppet Jamie Cullum took centre stage. Here you can see what you missed, as Cullum teams up with the thrillingly cutting-edge Heritage Orchestra for a broad programme that contains a twist on the standards and songs from his new album, The Pursuit, along with special guest contributions. After his bows, fans should stay tuned for The Swing Thing, a documentary of the genre that takes in its Rat Pack heyday and modern practitioners such as Michael Bublé. SL

Must Be The Music Sky1, 8pm

TV land can’t get enough of Jamie Cullum, it seems: he’s a judge, along with Dizzee Rascal and Sharleen Spiteri, on this music talent show from Sky1. No, the world didn’t need any more of this ilk but at least this has an ounce more integrity than most: acts can perform their own work and, starting from Sunday’s first semi-final, tracks from the acts can be downloaded from iTunes and Sky Songs, with net profits going to the artists. The Legion Of Many, a leather- and feather-clad group of glam rockers, kick off the auditions at London’s Hackney Empire. SL
